 Throughout the 70s and 80s this garden,located on 139 street corner of saint anns avenue,was a vacant lot in the grips of drug dealers and other criminals. in 1992 ,the parks council,a parks advocacy group ,chose the site for a success garden an enviromental learning center and community garden.with st. ann's church,st benidict center, and americorps members, a landscape architect-using the designs of children from nearby p.s.30-transform an eyesore into a community teasure.today  Padre Plaza features a bridge that spans a small pond,a gazeebo,a pergola covered with grapevines , a stage and several small garden boxe's. It is a source of nature lessons for the school children and a community gathering place.In order to ensure the park's survival,the parks council asked the city to tranfer the land to parks.Padre Plaza became parks property in 1997.in 2006 Mr. Mike young and serveral members of the Bronx community had established a board  membership consisting of  a garden president, vice president ,treasurer and secretary along with 22 regular garden members. Together with serveral support groups we have manange to do a thorough clean up and serveral much needed repairs.and reopened "Padre Plaza Success Garden" to the community.
